New Year’s Eve Party

by Roberta Murphy

Popping the corkWe have held an annual New Years Eve Party for years. It started when we lived near the ski slopes at Big Bear Lake, and continued when we moved to the San Diego area.. Mountain friends still come, as do friends from the coast. It is a casual affair and warm reunion. The menu this year will be various appetizers, French Quarter Seafood Gumbo, fresh green salad and an assortment of wines and desserts. On a whim, I decided to explore what other home entertainers were doing for the Big Night. The results of that search prove interesting: For a casual gathering with a definite testosterone slant, consider asking one of the Guys, who will recommend a menu of:

  • Pizzas, cheeses and crackers
  • Pretzels, nuts, chips and dip
  • Chicken wings, pigs in a blanket and nachos

For creative New Years Eve party ideas, who better to consult than one of the Village Ladies, who suggest we consider themed soirees:

  • A New Years Eve Pajama Party
  • A Girlfriends Spa Night
  • A New Years Eve Indoor Picnic
  • Midnight Breakfast Feast

For a non-alcoholic New Years Eve party, one might consider any or all of the above options, sans alcohol. The advantages?

  • No designated drivers.
  • No surprise overnight guests.
  • No drunks.
  • No hangovers.

As for us, we are offering sparkling decor, music, games, mineral waters, non-alcoholic beers, fresh juices, a lovely assortment of California wines, a guest room and several sofas.

  • It is a full menu.
  • It is a full house.
  • It is full of fun.

Have you noticed a recent uptick in Sacramento real estate activity? It is happening in the San Diego market. There is even buyer competition for well-priced properties.
